Apple is redesigning the Camera app with a fully customizable widget system — and you'll be the one deciding exactly what goes where.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, iOS 27 will introduce the most significant redesign of Apple's native Camera app to date. Set to be officially unveiled at WWDC on June 8, 2026, the update introduces a widget-based control system that lets users pick, reorder, and personalize the Camera interface to match their shooting style.
Camera controls — flash, exposure, timer, depth of field, photo styles, and resolution — become draggable widgets placed at the top of the viewfinder. A transparent tray slides up from the bottom of the app to reveal available options, organized into three categories: Basic, Manual, and Settings.
Apple preserves the default simple layout for everyday users, while the new advanced layout targets photographers and power users. Each mode — Photo, Video, and a new Siri camera mode — gets its own independent widget configuration. The Siri mode notably brings Visual Intelligence directly into the viewfinder.
Beyond the Camera app, iOS 27 also refreshes the Weather app with a new Conditions panel, redesigns Safari's start page with tabbed navigation (Favorites, Bookmarks, Reading List, History), adds Undo/Redo to Home Screen editing, and introduces a new keyboard slide-up animation system-wide.
